WORK EXPERIENCE
Photographer. 23 years. Posed portraiture and action photography at high end Vail and Aspen ski areas for a nationwide
company. In a wide variety of weather conditions, with and coordinating a broad spectrum of people and groups. High
people, photo and sales skills required and used. Film and digital media. Operation of presentation and printing
computers and machinery. Company top performer all 23 years.
Hiking Guide. Full time outdoor activity guide taking groups from one to fifteen mostly adults with a vast range of abilities on
anything from casual one hour hikes to 14,000 ft peak climbs. Accented heavily on instruction of the activity and of
nature and geography. High people skills, first aid and CPR certification, knowledge of the natural world, driving
involved.
Manager of busy, high end Outdoor/Mountain and Bicycles Stores. Retail sales, in depth knowledge of clothing and
equipment, inventory control, customer communication, computer operation, data entry, merchandising, ordering and
communication with vendors, all daily operations.
Photographer. Operate my own business showing audio-visual presentations of personal adventures to the wild and
mountainous areas of the world (as below) to schools, outdoor clubs and public. Narrative is interesting, entertaining and
educational. High photographic skills, a/v equipment operation. Communication with group leader, newspapers, TV
interviews, and audience.
Newspaper Columnist. Wrote weekly column for local newspaper on an active, outdoor, fitness theme.
Leader of Bicycle Tours. 2 to 5 day Inn to Inn style. Instruction, co-ordination and daily organization of up to 40 adult,
often novice cyclists. Included co-ordination between office, inn and tour group, meals, medical situations and social
director.
Crew Manager and Sous Chef for hectic restaurant. Responsible for production of meals, menu preparation, crew
scheduling, instruction of employees, ordering supplies, customer satisfaction.
Instructor at cross country ski center. Mostly novice skiers.
Greenkeeper/ Gardener. Care and maintenance of all types of golf, bowling, croquet greens and gardens. Includes
operation of a variety of grass cutting, rolling and tractor machinery.
Supervisor of a Geological Drill Rig in a remote area of the P.N.G. Highlands accessible only by helicopter. Operation of
local camp and radio communication with base camp.
Soil Lab Technician. Performing a variety of soil tests for engineering purposes.
Radio Announcer (volunteer). Local college based radio station.
